Beach Clean Up!!

BHMET Volunteers who helped with the beach clean up: (l-r) Lex Beal, Brian Sheppard, Estelle Leask and Tracker Black.
BHMET volunteers helped students from St. Teresa’s school in Bluff with a beach clean up from Greenpoint to Ocean Beach (areas just outside Bluff township). Total rubbish collected: 6 oyster sacks full of rubbish - 2 fish tubs - 1 rubber tyre and a large sheet of thick plastic. Awesome effort kids! Big thanks to all involved & to BHMET vollies Estelle Leask, Tracker Black, Brian Sheppard & Lex Beal. Beach Clean Ups help fight marine and terrain pollution that adversely effects New Zealand’s native flora and fauna. If you’re interested in organising a beach clean up, the Department of Conservation web site has a great page that’ll help you get started: http://www.doc.govt.nz/get-involved/run-a-project/restoration-advice/beach-clean-ups/.
