Flowering Oleria on Bluff HIll – Sign of Spring
Estelle Leask captured this photo of flowering Oleria (Akeake) on Bluff Hill. It’s a sure sign of spring. All of New Zealand’s species of Olearia are exclusively found within NZ. The characteristic flower form of daisies is evident in all NZ Olearia, whether in large showy displays of usually white flowers or in smaller, almost indiscernible arrangements of flowers. This photo shows the Olearia macrodonta, the NZ tree daisy. It’s so nice to see these flowers free from possum browsing.
